Other Centres

The Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) was founded by Professor Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis in Kolkata on December 17, 1931. The institute gained the status of an Institution of National Importance by an act of the Indian Parliament in 1959. Headquartered in Kolkata, West Bengal, India, the Institute has gained a pan India presence with its outlying centres located in Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai and North-East (Tezpur). The Institute also has several outlying offices located across various parts of the country.

Delhi Centre

The Delhi Centre of the Indian Statistical Institute was started in 1974, and shifted to its present campus in 1975. Some of India's leading statisticians, mathematicians, and economists have been on its faculty, and its training programs enjoy worldwide repute. Bangalore Centre

The Bangalore Centre of the Indian Statistical Institute was conceived by Prof. Mahalanobis during 1960s. It has by now become an institution well-known for its academic activities in Mathematics and Statistics, Statistical Quality Control and Operations Research, Library and Information Sciences, and Quantitative Economics. Chennai Centre

ISI Chennai Centre was established in 2008. The Centre offers PGDSMA program, a part-time certificate course in Statistical Quality Control, and doctoral programs in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematical Programming, and Statistical Quality Control, contributing significantly to the academic and research landscape of the region. North-East Centre (Tezpur)

The North-East centre of the Institute at Tezpur was inaugurated on July 23, 2011. This is the fourth centre of ISI, joining the existing centres at Delhi, Bangalore, and Chennai. The centre runs a Post Graduate Diploma in Statistical Methods and Analytics, with an exclusive 50% reservation of total intake capacity, for students domiciled in the North-East states of India.
